Screed #9
10/2/04
The times have been tough for charities lately and we
are not the exception. We are now meeting our budget
month by month and we are thankful for that. Things
were looking particularly bleak a month or so ago and
I prayed earnestly that God would bless our effort and
I even suggested that he send an angel to give us a hand.
Well, he didn't send an angel but he did send an outlaw;
KLOL's Outlaw Dave!!! Outlaw Dave does afternoons on
101.1 FM and he came up with the idea of doing a motorcycle
ride to Galveston. To make a long and wonderful story
short the event raised $21,000...enough to keep the ranch
afloat through November based on our monthly budget of
$7000. I have often said that God is never late but He
has missed some dandy opportunities to be early (and I
think He feels the same way about me). I can't begin
to name and thank all the people and organizations who
made this happen but in my next screed I will certainly
try. One thing for sure Dave's name must go to the top
of the list...he is a special person who is my best
friend (OUTLAW DAVE IS YOUR FRIEND)...he has always been
there to help the ranch and he has this uncanny ability
to verbally make the most complex of problems so simple
and direct. Listen to his show and see what I mean. Oh,
by the way he is also entertaining! Congratulations and
thanks to everyone who participated in the Outlaw Dave
Save the Ranch Ride. What can you say except that it
was absolutely beautiful/jim & joy pruett/out
