A letter from Jim Pruett...
I'm looking at the August expense sheet for the ranch; feed and grain
$1200, farrier $420, veterinary service and equine medicine $1500, people
food $1400, payroll $3500, assorted insurance $1100, school stuff $500, cell
phones, telephones, computer lines and cable TV $700, therapist $400 and gas
and electric service $800. These figures do not include outlays for
recreation, office supplies, lawn mower break downs, gasoline, paint, auto
repairs, bridles, ropes, building and fence repair or the myriad of other
costs that a working ranch incurs from day to day. To keep your ranch going
it costs approximately $10,000 a month.
You, the ranch staff and our dedicated volunteers have kept the ranch in
the black since 1980. While other charities have bit the dust we still rock
on! I am very proud of what we have done. However (uh-oh, here it comes),
our fund raisers have barely kept us afloat this year. The fact of the
matter is that we are just making it from month to month. So don't let up
now. Keep the faith. Through thick and thin we will continue to provide a
safe place for our boys and our animals. We will do it because they depend
on us and "this we will defend". God has never been late but He has missed
some dandy opportunities to be early.
In an effort to make it easier for you to continue your kind and much
needed assistance, you can now
donate to the ranch by credit card
using this web
site. It is totally safe AND tax deductible. The Stevens and Pruett
Foundation for Children and Animals is a 501 (C3) charity with an impeccable
reputation for honesty and some of us are even good looking (especially to
the horses when we bring apples)! All I am asking is that you help us end
our year and start a new millennium with your support! All of us have the
opportunity to nurture the lives of some young men and animals who have not
been as fortunate as us. A donation of
$10 or
$25
goes a long way when we
join forces together to help those who cannot help themselves. Some of us
have been so blessed that a
$100
to a
$1000
donation would not be hard to
give. Please let your heart guide you to give whatever you can. A
Christmas gift for the children and animals - it will come back to you ten
fold. I guarantee it or your money back.
Maybe you can't give cash at this time. Well, how about clothing for
boys 13 to 17, household items like comforters or twin size sheets, bags of
sweet feed (extra winter feed provides body heat for the animals), a used
pickup truck or a big ole dining room table with chairs. Maybe you can
donate time. IT'S ALL GOOD! Whatever you give will be deeply appreciated
by some very special young men who up 'til now haven't had too many people
be nice to them...until you came along.
Joy and I wish you and yours a very special holiday season. May God
bless you and yours and fill your cup to overflowing. Peace/Joy and Jim
Pruett 11/99
This bulletin just handed me: The Pruett family is going to spend less
this year on personal gifts. Instead, we are honored to start off the
credit card donation system with a $1000 donation. Your love for the ranch
may not change the whole world but I know we can start a fire of change on
one little corner of it that can be seen all the way to Heaven!
